A zinnia surrenders her colours at the first chill of October

arguing that giving up her body before she loses her colours would mean dying.

This way, her colours may have been chilled out of her;

and her body may be less robust and no longer eye-catching; 

 

but she sees her sun a little longer, if more dimly, through her clouded, darkening eyes…
