The golden larch in autumn

Winterthur, DE is the legacy of Henry Francis du Pont, American, 1880-1969

A small arc of fire on a path through the pinetum at Winterthur in autumn tells you where to find the golden larch (Pseudolaryx amabilis).

Not a true larch, it is a cone-bearing deciduous pine tree native to eastern China.

Deep green glossy needles which turn a spectacular shade of gold in autumn.
