Winterthur, Delaware on May 1, 2021

Legacy of Henry Francis du Pont, 1880-1969, American

When the Kurume azaleas and the rhododendrons begin to bloom in May on their eight celebrated acres in Winterthur’s Azalea Woods,

Spanish bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica) seize a moment in the sunlight.

Mostly blue-lilac, some paler than others. A rare white one.
