There are moments
in moist love
when heaven
is jealous of what
we on earth
can do.

“Eternity isn’t some later time. Eternity isn’t even a long time.

“Eternity has nothing to do with time. Eternity is that dimension of here and now that all thinking in temporal terms cuts off….

“The experience of eternity right here and now, in all things, whether thought of as good or as evil, is the function of life”

Gibralter, Wilmington, Delaware, garages with glass houses on top; and chauffeur and servant quarters on both sides.

An estate – house and gardens – dating from 1848, expanded and renovated from 1909 by Hugh Rodney Sharpe, the state’s premier preservationist, and his wife, a member of the du Pont family.

The gardens and grounds were not kept up after the death of Hugh Rodney Sharpe in 1968.  The house has been empty and abandoned since the death of his son in 1990.  It is now uninhabitable and its zoning has been changed, at the request of new real estate owners, from residential to commercial.

Its four-step gardens, now named for the pioneering landscape architect who planned them, Maria Kruger Coffin (1876-1957, American) were donated to a conservation group who is slowly restoring them.
