Bob Dylan looking at The Thin Man with the Tie and Polished Shoes

Ballad of the Thin Man,1965; Bob Dylan, American born 1941

Bob Dylan’s explanation of who Mr. Jones is:

“I saw him come into the room one night and he looked like a camel. He proceeded to put his eyes in his pocket. I asked this guy who he was and he said, ‘That’s Mr. Jones.'”

Said to be a dressing down of a ‘bourgeois’ man who stumbled into a hip hangout which the singer frequented at the time.

I don’t care what it is about. I love it.

And do we even know now what the hell is going on?

William Penn, the founder of Philadelphia, 1682, on top of City Hall, reflected.
