The middle of Autumn

Mid-Autumn 2015 Winterthur Oct 22 2015-21

It is Persephone’s descent into Hades which is winter.  Pluto abducts her but, arrogant and boastful, he parades her around.  He has her back turned to  the huge opening in the earth from which he rode out of hell.  Then he turns her around to enter that darkness so that he can conduct her to her winter home.  This all takes time.

Which is why we are, still, in mid-autumn.  The great parkland trees are still mostly green. But the maple has begun to turn and all the little trees, woody vines, small plants, and undergrowth.
