Chained Lady

The heat arrived here in our cramped city in July.

Then the heat went away and we relaxed.

Now the heat is back.

Someone malign has imprisoned a beautiful and beautifully dressed woman in my neighbourhood.  She is watering real plants in a real pot.  She watches you as you approach her and as you pass her.  Nobody can block this image (legally) because there is a No Parking sign in front of her.

Of course, like everything here, she would be stolen if she were not chained.  But still………..

Hot Sun, Cool Fire

George Peele,  English, 1555 – 1596
Hot sun, cool fire, tempered with sweet air,
Black shade, fair nurse, shadow my white hair.
Shine, sun; burn, fire; breathe, air, and ease me;
Black shade, fair nurse, shroud me and please me.
Shadow, my sweet nurse, keep me from burning;
Make not my glad cause cause of mourning.
    Let not my beauty’s fire
    Inflame unstaid desire,
    Nor pierce any bright eye
    That wandereth lightly.
