The Late, Lamented Corcoran, Washington, DC

These were in the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC. The Corcoran, whose lions have been put to sleep, opened in 1869 and closed in 2014. Its major holdings were devolved to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

The Veiled Bust dates from 1863 and is Italian and of unknown detailed provenance.

Loop, 2000, is the work of the media artist,  Jennifer Steinkamp, and Jimmy Johnson who composes electronically. The statue of Venus is a copy after Antonio Canova made in 1823 by Thomas Hope. I did not record sound.

I am of the age to have running commentary in my head about the Madonna/Whore complex. But I am discarding it in favour of astonishment at the skill of these representations.
